Working Through Hardships

Working towards your own version of success

A downside of social media, is it does kind of tell the story of what success should look like. It's usually something around fame, money, prestige, and power. And those things are probably traditionally from a human perspective, things that we look towards for success or how we define success as a society. But the reality is, is that some people find success in different ways, and just finding fulfillment in life.

I was going to be a lawyer. Right. So I was a pre law poli sci major for a while decided I didn't want to do that. I was an art major for a while decided I didn't want to do that. I was a zoology major for a while decided I wasn't going to do that. And I went back to art for a while, but landed on like social sciences. So I have a social sciences degree. And it's not really the work that I do today.

I don't regret that because I learned so much through that experience. And I think that was really valuable in life.

It's probably easier if you know exactly what you want to do. And some people are lucky enough to kind of figure that out and stay dedicated to that path. We go through different kind of career transitions and different types of jobs. And that's really common, especially today. And especially with younger generations.

It can be when life throws something at you that you grow into something you feel called to. Through stress, significant life disruptions.

stress, significant life disruption. I don't want to come on to you and act like I've got it all figured out. Finding that breaking point where I realized again, my values and my talents and my skills could benefit the world in different ways outside of my day job.

That's one of the things I try to teach my kids as well is things are gonna happen in life that you don't expect that are not going to be positive. And so the really what's going to come down to is that there's not a question of if that'll happen to you. It's a question of when, and to what extent and really the thing that's important to think about is how do you respond.
