Don't Be Fake Online

Its not really a surprise that research shows that being authentic in everything you do makes you happier. That too many people don’t connect what and who you are online is a part of that. Now there’s nothing wrong with trying to be a bit more confident online or have a bit of a persona. But it can’t be with everything that you do.

An article that uses “Authentic Self-Expression on Social Media Is Associated With Greater Subjective Well-Being” in Nature Communications October 6th, 2020 issue and “The Benefits Of Being Yourself Online” Scientific American February 9th, 2021 issue goes over really well how people use social media and being fake

Two main points:

  • Social media helps or hurts an individual’s well-being might be partly driven by how they use platforms to express themselves

  • Both introverts and extroverts benefited equally from being true to themselves

No surprise there.
